For Our Fathers

For our fathers who have been,

Who lulled us to sleep,

And kissed us good night.
For our fathers who have been,

Who carried us on their shoulders,

And taught us to ride bikes.
For our fathers who have been,

Who scolded us when we strayed,

And hugged us when we cried.
For our fathers who have been,

Who wore the same pair for years

So we could have many to wear.
For our fathers who have been,

Who toiled and toiled

While we played in the sun.
For our fathers who have been,

A little girl’s hero,

A little boy’s champion.
For our fathers who have been,

A mother’s love,

A wife’s best friend.
For our fathers who have been,

Who left us with voids difficult to fill,

And memories unforgettable.
For our fathers who have been,

And who forever will be,

Watching over us from heaven,

Sitting right next to the One who Fathers us all.
For our fathers who have been,

Remembered everyday,

And most especially today.
Happy Father’s Day.
